Everett Grace Embryology Study

The eggs have arrived!!!!! We went to the Rowan County 4 H extension office today to pick up our dozen chicken eggs, to study and hatch over the next few weeks.
We put them in the incubator and tomorrow we plug in the egg turner, which is what they are sitting in right now. Dear Lord, please let at least a few of these chicks hatch!!

Yummy Southern Barbeque

I love Pinterest!! I found a super yummy barbeque recipe on Pinterest a few weeks ago, here. I modified the recipe to suit Gracie & Bones slightly picky taste in food. I made this twice, and the second time I used a pork tenderloin and it (in my opinion) tasted much better than when I used the pork roast, and I also made my own rub instead of using the Montreal Steak Seasoning.
I used brown sugar, onion powder, round red, pepper, garlic powder, and sea salt in my rub for the pork loin. I basically just mixed it to our taste, we tend to lean more to the sweet and spicy than the herb taste. Next I basically followed the directions of the recipe, except I used pepsi and coke for the liquid that the loin cooked in, and I always use Sweet Baby Rays Barbeque sauce, I mean is there any other?!? Here is a picture of the finished product, and it was definitely yummy!!!

Everett Grace Academy Embryology Study

As many of you know we are a homeschooling family, and this year as part of our science program we are partnering with the Rowan County 4H to hatch our own chickens. Last Monday Gracie and I went for an orientation and picked up our supplies, we were very excited. Okay, I was nervous, and I'm still nervous! I really need these chicks to hatch, I don't want my children to need therapy after this project is over! HaHaHa!! Today we plugged in the incubator and filled it with water, and tomorrow we will go by the 4H and pick up our eggs. Here is a picture of the incubator, egg turner, and curriculum guide given to us to use.

It's been awhile!!

Well to say that it's been awhile since I have posted is a major understatement. A lot has happened in our family in the last year or so. We have just started our 3rd year of homeschool with Gracie and our first year with Bones. So I have a 2nd grader and one in kindergarten. I'm still running my cake and cookie business out of our home going on the 12th year. We have added some new members to our family, two cats, Magnolia Belle and Stonewall Jackson. The biggest thing that has changed on our family is Big Daddy Bones is no longer an over the road truck driver and we are so happy to have him home every night. He's still doing what he loves, driving a truck but it's local now and he's home every day. I'm excited to get back to blogging I've definitely missed it and I can 't wait to share some of our family's adventures with y'all. I'll also be sharing lots of recipes and adventures through our homeschool Everett Grace Academy.

Slide Adventure

Daddy & Gracie waiting to go down the slide.

Bones waiting for Daddy & Gracie to come down the slide. He was waiting on his turn.....

Daddy and Bones waiting in line for the slide.

Daddy & Gracie coming down the slide.

Okay they have these new slides at Compass Cove, the resort we always stay at when visiting the beach. At first NOONE was going down the slides, then as the day went on Gracie & Bones decided they were going down the slides, well naturally Gracie went first being the oldest and all, and as Bones was waiting for his turn I was watching all of these bigger kids come down he slides looking flustered and trying to catch their breath, as you can see in the picture of Gracie coming down the slide, she looked waterlogged. At that moment I decided that Bones was not going down the slide even though we humored him by letting him wait in line, and it was his idea to come back down the steps, although he quickly wanted to start waiting in line again. Mommy told him that he wasn't old enough to go down the slide and he could either go to the lazy river or go take a nap and naturally knowing his GREAT dislike for naps, we traveled back to the lazy river.
